The health of our community plays a key role in our personal well being, which is why the work that community health workers and advocates do is so impactful. with funding from the wright center, the center on society and health and initiatives of change created an interactive story featuring richmond’s community health workers and advocates. About the project to underscore the connection between neighborhood conditions and health, the vcu center on society and health has created a series of maps that prominently display life expectancy values alongside common geographic landmarks such as subway stops and highway exits. The center on health & society was awarded $2.8m to study stress and health among older african american families. the study of longevity and stress in african americans (solsaa) is a 5 year project funded by the national institute of aging.
